nationamuseum archThis project assesses the impact of accelerators, incubators, and other startup support organisations. We review the business models and performance metrics of support organisations (accelerators, incubators, co-working spaces, angel organisations, and mentoring organisations, including pre-accelerators and germinators).

Performance data is gathered from 18 support organisations and from 76 startups. Policy implications are derived from the literature, industry reports and our field data.

We also introduce a new project on the educational efficacy of accelerators in developing 10 different entrepreneurial capabilities.

This project entails pre- and post-surveys for all applicants of three NZ accelerators.

If you're a businesses that uses accelerators, co-working spaces, mentoring, seed capital, or structured workshops, UNSW, and the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science would love to hear from you! The 'big' questions are: What impact have these organisations had on participating startups and the broader ecosystem? What impact are they aiming for? Can (or should) their impact be amplified through innovation policy?
